NWC tops results of RDA’s annual report on the Saudi public sector

Having adopted an array of professional corrective procedures over the last two years (2017-2018), the National Water Company (NWC) managed to reduce troubled and delayed projects in Riyadh.

The Riyadh Development Authority (RDA), which uses specific standards and indicators to gauge project performance, showed in its annual report on projects’ performance in the Saudi governmental sector that the NWC has achieved the least troubled and delayed projects compared to 20 other entities. Moreover, the company had no troubled projects in the Capital, Riyadh, where only four projects were delayed, which is a 3.74% of the projects executed in the same period.

Eng Mansour M. Abuthnain, NWC’s Projects and Technical Services VP, said that the company has executed many initiatives and took professional corrective procedures over the last couple of years to enhance projects nationwide including both the company’s and those of the general directorates for water distribution services. Thus, the company realized a reduction in troubled project from 73% in 2016 to as little as 8.9% by the end of 2018. The company targets 0% in the forthcoming period, he added.

The same procedures enabled the delivery of 141 projects last year across the Kingdom, costing more than SAR4.3 billion. As a result, services coverage was increased, operations efficiency enhanced and environmental damages removed.

The vice president stated that the projects portfolio of the Water Distribution Sector comprises some 919 projects at SAR45.5 billion. The company plans to complete more than SAR10.4 billion worth of executive works for 183 projects in 2019 as per its official plans and schedules, serving over 1.7 million customers.

The praises are due to Allah for these achievements. Abuthnain thanked the governmental generous support and the direct follow-up of the Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture and the CEO of NWC along with the concerted efforts of all NWC staff. We are keen to achieve more in the future to realize the Vision 2030
