The France international, who was one of the club’s prestigious summer signings, took on new teammate Jesse Lingard in the Swissquote Red Zone ‘Box of Balls’ trial which put their decision making, speed and balls skills to the test.
The two players had to battle against the clock and decide how best to release five golden balls from a box of red balls in the quickest possible way and it was United academy graduate Lingard who emerged victorious as he successfully completed his challenge in the allotted time, while Schneiderlin was left frustrated as he elusively searched for one remaining golden ball.
Over the course of the 2015/16 season the Red Zone will test members of the Manchester United squad including David De Gea and Chris Smalling with a series of skill based challenges that will examine their decision making skills under pressure.
Speaking on his experience in the Swissquote Red Zone, Schneiderlin said:
“Decision making is a very important part of being a footballer and I took the harder option as I am the kind of person that loves a challenge. I definitely think there were only four golden balls in there! But it was a good challenge and bad luck to me that I couldn’t find that last ball.”
Lingard was clearly relieved to complete the challenge:
“The challenge was a lot harder than I expected. I chose the option which looked more fun and towards the end I thought the time was up, but I’m really pleased that I managed to complete it.”
Marc Burki, CEO and Co-Founder of Swissquote, Manchester United’s first Official Global Forex & Online Financial Trading Partner added:
“Manchester United’s players have to make important decisions every time they take to the pitch and so we wanted to put some of these decision making skills to the test.
“At Swissquote we pride ourselves on providing the best advice and expertise to help our clients make the best possible decisions.”
