Saudi Arabia has welcomed the ceasefire agreement between the Libyan parties reached at the United Nations headquarters in Geneva on Friday.
In a statement on Friday, the Saudi foreign ministry said: “We welcome the signing of a permanent ceasefire agreement between the joint Libyan military committees in Libya under the auspices of the United Nations.
“We express the Kingdom's aspiration that the agreement will pave the way for the success of the political and economic negotiations, thus contributing to open a new era that achieves security, peace, sovereignty and stability for Libya and its brotherly people.
Meanwhile, Secretary-General of Gulf Cooperation Council Nayef Al-Hajraf also welcomed the ceasefire. The GCC chief expressed his hope that the agreement would lead to a comprehensive political solution that would bring security and stability to Libya.
