The new luxury lifestyle space has transformed into an art destination, with a heartwarming Ramadan installation and immersive gallery reinventing the art-buying experience
Cementing its position as more than a luxury retail space, but a world where retail, dining, wellness, entertainment and creativity seamlessly collide, Solitaire Riyadh has unveiled two new art installations. As part of its mission to champion local Saudi artists and boost creativity, the two new projects will catapult Solitaire to the forefront of Riyadh’s art scene – creating a one-of-a-kind experiential destination housing some of the world’s most luxurious brands and now, most exciting Saudi talents.
Finjalak Ramadan Installation
The new project will see Fanajil Installation Concept illuminate the space during the month of Ramadan, delighting visitors with three thought-provoking and heartwarming installations curated by local MAJAZ ART Curators. Three zones will captivate Solitaire shoppers, honoring the traditions and beauty of Ramadan. The first is inspired by the humble Finjan, a powerful representation of family, tradition, and storytelling.
Visitors will delight in towering colorful stacks of oversized Finjan cups leaning in to support each other, symbolizing the family coming together, especially during the beloved tradition of iftar. The tallest honors the father, a pillar of strength and wisdom, cut in deep, steady blue. The second is the mother, wrapped in rich red and representing warmth, nurturing, love and tradition. Two further Finjans represent the eldest and youngest child – the eldest, draped in green and bridging tradition and self-discovery, the younger, illuminated in yellow, showcasing innocence and the first rays of sunshine at dawn.
Two other concepts will grace Solitaire, bringing Ramadan’s storytelling to life through art. A collection of sculptural giant golden coffee cups stands as a monumental symbol of the nostalgic moment a poet experiences after the first sip of coffee in the desert, transforming coffee into a gateway for reflection, poetry, and memories of loved ones.
Inside each sculpted cup, engraved verses from pioneering Saudi poets honor the timeless bond between poetry, love, and the shimmering skies. The stillness of the scene is almost sacred—where coffee becomes more than a drink, but rather an invitation to pause, to feel, and to listen. It creates an eternal dialogue between solitude and love, standing as a soulful tribute to the enduring bond between people, place, and poetry, and offering visitors a moment of quiet reflection in a world that is always moving.
Behind The Frame
Solitaire’s dedication to fostering Saudi’s thriving art scene extends beyond traditional spaces, redefining public art by transforming shop hoardings into a roaming immersive digital gallery, Behind the Frame. Blurring the lines between commerce, creativity, and culture, this innovative space seamlessly integrates art into everyday life, offering visitors a curated journey where creativity meets technology in the vibrant heart of Riyadh.
More than just an exhibition, Behind the Frame transforms traditional retail spaces and underutilized storefronts into a vibrant, ever-evolving exhibition of Saudi contemporary art. This year-round outdoor gallery seamlessly integrates art into daily life, turning ordinary mall visits into moments of artistic discovery. As visitors stroll through Solitaire, sip coffee, or explore the latest retail offerings, they encounter striking digital displays featuring works by Saudi’s most compelling contemporary artists.
Curated by local MAJAZ ART Curators, the exhibition spans a dynamic range of styles—from conceptual photography to bold abstract compositions—all available for purchase through a seamless QR code system, allowing collectors to bring home a piece of Riyadh’s creative energy. By embedding art within high-traffic commercial spaces, Behind the Frame makes cultural engagement instinctive and accessible, ensuring that art isn’t confined to galleries or institutions but becomes part of the everyday urban experience.
This innovative digital space fosters deeper connections between artists and audiences, offering a retail-driven approach to art appreciation. In Ramadan and beyond, Solitaire invites visitors to pause, reflect, and engage—not just with the visuals, but with the stories, emotions, and creative energy of Saudi Arabia’s thriving art scene and the dynamic community it represents.
Fanajil runs throughout Ramadan at Solitaire, with Behind the Frame open and running year-round.
