Sharjah Media Corporation –(ME NewsWire)-launched the “Abdea” Award for Best Video Reportage, the first of its kind, which is aimed at identifying and encouraging ambitious and talented young students from the Emirate of Sharjah’s schools and educational institutes.
The announcement of the award was made at a recent press conference that was held by the SMC at Sheraton Sharjah Hotel in the presence of Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Media Corporation, Dr Khalid Omar Al Midfa, Director General of the SMC, Mohammed Khalaf, Director of Sharjah TV and Radio. Also in attendance were members of the judging panel, deans of the universities and colleges of media in Sharjah, senior officials from the SMC and media representatives.
The SMC encouraged students to search for innovative ideas, prepare a clear and impressive script and avoid ambiguity and narrative style while using a precise and concise style. Students were also advised not to express any political or religious views in their videos.
To be eligible for entry into the competition, the entrant must be a student in one of the approved universities or educational institutes in the Emirate of Sharjah. The report should not exceed three minutes and should focus on content based on the subject matter. The entrant should not seek technical support from third party producers.
The value of the award is Dh150,000, divided into eight categories.
