Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud patronized today the laying foundation stone ceremony for Diriyah Gate Project which aims at restoring the historical area as a cultural heritage project and returning this historical area to its ancient past in the 18th century in order to become a local and international tourist destination.
Upon his arrival at the venue, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques was received by Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Riyadh Region; His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Defense and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Diriyah Gate Development Authority; Prince Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Governor of Riyadh Region; Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan, Minister of Culture; and member of the Board of Directors of Diriyah Gate Development Authority.
The ceremony started with recitation of verses from the Holy Quran.
Then, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the audience watched a video presentation on the seven gates of Diriyah.
Later, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques laid the foundation stone for the Diriyah Gate project, where he received the foundation stone from HRH the Crown Prince. Memorial photos were taken on this occasion.
Then, the Saudi Arda was performed.
Then, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques was briefed on Alajrab Sword, the sword of Imam Turki bin Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Saud, the founder of the second Saudi state.
