The National Water Company (NWC)’s General Directorate for Water Services in Makkah completed working on the first phase of water networks and domestic connections project in Al-Laith governorate. An additional 10,000m3/day of water is currently being pumped through 5,000 domestic connections in 16 districts in Khulais.
Eng Muhammad bin Saleh Al-Ghamedi, Director General of Makkah Water, said that the project comprised an 8.6km network and domestic connections for 800 properties in six districts including, Al-Shati 1, 2 and 3, Al-Qasr, Maktab Al-‘Amal and the old region. More than 4,800 people will benefit from the network. The supply is continuous to achieve higher rates and reduce dependence on tankers.
The Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC) supplies this network via four-3,200m3-operating tanks. The company started pumping additional amount of some 300-400m3from Khulais dam to the governorate earlier this week; added to its original 7,000m3/day, the total water supplied to the governorate is more than 10,000m3. Al-Ghamedi encouraged the customers in the covered area to update their information and apply for the services.
